# How to update your existing content with Workover Posts that were already on your WordPress site before you started using Workover do not need to be recreated. When you connect a site, Workover imports your existing posts as documents that are linked to them, so editing a document and pushing it updates the same post at the same address. > **Do not delete and republish a live post to update it.** Older versions of this page recommended that. It is no longer needed, and deleting a post loses its comments and can break links to it. **Before you start:** your WordPress site must be connected to a Workover project. See [Connecting your WordPress site](/docs/connecting-your-wordpress-site/). ## Update an imported post 1. Open the project for your site. Your existing posts, pages and custom post type entries appear in its document list. 2. If a post you expect is missing (for example, it was created after you connected the site), click **Sync from WordPress** on the project page. It adds posts that are not in Workover yet and does not create duplicates. It also overwrites the title, workflow status and other details of documents it imported before with their WordPress values, and replaces a document’s body if nobody has opened that document in Workover. 3. Open the document for the post. 4. Click **Edit panel** in the editor toolbar. The panel opens on the **WP** tab. 5. Check the card at the top of the tab. If it says **New changes in WordPress**, someone edited the post in WordPress since Workover last synced it. Click **Pull** and confirm, before you start editing: pulling replaces the document’s body and fields in Workover with the WordPress version. 6. Make your changes in the document. 7. Click **Push**. The post on your site is updated in place, at the same URL. If WordPress changed after your last pull, Workover stops the push and asks whether to **Pull latest from WordPress first** or **Overwrite anyway**. Pulling replaces your edits in Workover with the WordPress version. Choose **Overwrite anyway** only if you are sure the WordPress edits can be discarded. ## Related - [How to push a document to WordPress](/docs/pushing-to-wordpress/) - [Pulling changes from WordPress](/docs/pulling-from-wordpress/) - [How WordPress sync works](/docs/how-wordpress-sync-works/)
