Slack

Connect Slack so Workover can send you your notifications and Monitor alerts as Slack direct messages, and so you can turn a Slack message into a Workover draft. Workover does not post notifications or alerts into Slack channels.

Before you start: you need permission to install apps in your Slack workspace. Workover finds each person in Slack by their email address, so your Slack email has to match the email you sign in to Workover with.

Warning: Connecting Slack sends nothing on its own. Each person turns on Slack direct messages for themselves, and each Monitor alert rule opts in separately. Until then, no Slack messages arrive.

Connect Slack to your workspace

1. Open Workspace settings → Integrations.
2. Under Messaging, click Connect on the Slack card.
3. In Slack, approve the Workover app for your Slack workspace.
4. You return to Integrations, where the Slack card lists your Slack workspace.

Any member of the Workover workspace can connect or disconnect Slack.

Get your own notifications in Slack

1. Open Account settings → Security.
2. Under Preferences, turn on the Slack switch (“Direct-message me my notifications in Slack, when my workspace is connected to Slack”).

This is off by default and applies only to you. It is separate from the email switches above it: turning email categories on or off does not change what reaches you in Slack. The Delivery setting does apply, though: unless it is set to As it happens, comment and WordPress sync activity does not reach Slack either, only the notifications that always arrive right away, such as mentions, sharing and going live on your CMS.

Send a Monitor alert to Slack

Monitor is enabled per workspace by arrangement. Skip this section if your workspace does not have it.

1. In Monitor, open the site’s Site settings and go to the Alerts tab.
2. Under Alert rules, click Edit on a rule, or Add rule for a new one.
3. Tick Also post to Slack.
4. Click Save rule.

Each recipient of the alert then also gets it as a Slack direct message. The email is still sent; Slack is in addition to email, never instead of it.

Turn a Slack message into a draft

Once Slack is connected, you can start a Workover AI draft from any Slack message with the Send to Workover message shortcut.

1. On the message in Slack, open the message’s shortcuts menu and choose Send to Workover.
2. In Draft into, choose the workspace and project.
3. In What should the draft cover?, edit the text. It starts as the message itself.
4. Click Draft.

Workover replies in the message’s thread to say it is drafting, and posts the link there when the draft is ready. If Slack says it couldn’t find a Workover workspace connected to this Slack for your account, check that your Slack email matches your Workover login and that the workspace has connected Slack.

Disconnect Slack

Warning: Disconnecting removes Slack for the whole Workover workspace, and it cannot be undone. Direct messages and the Send to Workover shortcut stop for everyone until someone reconnects.

1. Open Workspace settings → Integrations.
2. On the Slack card, click Disconnect, then confirm Disconnect.
